As part of PAB2008, we are introducing a new presentation series called “Jolts”. A Jolt is meant to wake up the imaginations, brains and collective energy of the community.
Essentially, we are looking for proposals for timed five-minute talks that put new ideas into the community for innovation in content, production, tools and activities (real and virtual). This is a chance for someone to inspire the community or make a pitch to collaborate to improve upon an existing idea or tool, or launch a new one.
Jolts CANNOT be used to sell a product or service, or launch a business venture. They are meant to get people thinking, talking and connecting.
We are accepting submissions via email (podcastersacrossborders@gmail.com) until 5pmET on April 30, 2008. Then we’ll go through the submissions and select our favourites for the actual conference. Jolt speakers will not be compensated.

Registration for the third annual Podcasters Across Borders conference opens at midnight, tonight. The cost is CDN$125/person.
PAB2008 is happening June 20-22, 2008 in Kingston, Ontario (Canada). Your registration includes three days of workshops and sessions, social events, a hot and cold buffet lunch (including vegan selections), a boat cruise and more. Even though conference space is limited to 160 people, Kingston is a great family-oriented town and an increasing number of PABbers are bringing their partners and children along for a vacation. As such, the boat cruise is open to PAB families and partners (please reserve space).
Information on this year’s conference location, accommodations, program and social events is available on the PAB2008 information page. Information on previous conferences is available on the Previous PABs webpage. There is also a catalog of (freely available) recorded sessions from PAB2006 and PAB2007.
Keep watching the PodcastersAcrossBorders.com website and listening to the Canadian Podcast Buffet for details on the PAB2008 conference program and registration. Email us at podcastersacrossborders@gmail.com with any questions.

One of the social highlights of PAB2007 was the Friday evening boat cruise; a ninety-minute excursion of Lake Ontario on a beautiful evening. The only complaints about the cruise were that it was too short and those who couldn’t make it to the conference until Saturday missed it.
We are happy to announce that this year’s boat cruise has been moved to Saturday evening (June 21) and we’ve made it 33.333% better by making it two hours long (8:00pm – 10:00pm).
Registrants who will be bringing their family or a partner with them to Kingston are invited to bring them along for the cruise at no extra charge. If you fall into this category (and because there is a finite amount of space on the boat), please email podcastersacrossborders@gmail.com to reserve space for your guests.
