Two more speaking sessions confirmed

Posted by PAB in PAB2010

Because of our late start in planning PAB2010, we’re juggling more organization activities at one time than typical for mid-April. To show we’re still working hard on everything, we’re making announcements as often as we can.

One activity we’re still working through is reviewing speaking proposals and selecting speakers. We’re making announcements as quickly as decisions are made. Today, we have two more session announcements.

Writer and blogger Mare Swallow (aka Etiquette Bitch) will be delivering the session Make the Irrelevant Relevant: Apply Three Adult Learning Principles to Your Media.

Algoma University Prof. Dave Brodbeck will moderate the discussion What if my boss finds out? with CNET-TV executive editor Tom Merritt of TWiT (see the comments), librarian and podcaster Ken Hernden, and teacher and podcaster Scarborough Dude.

The early registration code pab2010 saves $20 on registration and expires at 5pmET today, April 16. Register now before it’s too late.

  • For Tom, Ken and I it of course depends if our bosses let us….

  • I did not mention the Dude’s boss as, well, I am not sure we know such information…

The idea here is that Tom podcasts for his job, I podcast with my job, Ken podcasts and represents us (the University) at big time national and provincial organizations, and the Dude uses a pseudonym. So we go from one end to another with respect to our podcasting lives and professional lives. Thus our panel has some sort of symmetry or something.

  • Can’t wait for Ken to join the podcaster/librarian/PAB speaker club! It’s quite an exclusive group.

This lineup is getting better all the time. Well done folks!

    Cheers,
    Connie

  • Also podcasting just led to me changing my job. Thankfully my new boss does nothing BUT podcasts and is excited for me to go…. But I guess the description of me in the panel has to change.

  • Mark says:

Thanks for the update, Tom, and for having a boss who’s excited for you to be part of PAB. I changed the post. We’re looking forward to meeting you.

  • To be clear, the ask our bosses thing was a bit of a joke, though I had no idea Tom was changing bosses the same day….. Ken is the University Librarian so I think this makes him a law unto himself. I have to get my division chair to sign a form saying I can go. Oddly enough, umm, I am the science division chair. I think I will let me go….

  • Tom… congrats on the new gig!

Now if I could only get a Roku box in Canada, I would have Twit.tv streaming to my TV all the time!

Looking forward to the panel… and hoping the Ontario College of Teachers doesn’t catch any of my invective-laced podcasts before then. :)
