As an event, PAB2011 is now officially complete. Thanks to everyone who participated this year and helped make PAB2011 an incredible and inspiring conference.

PAB2012 is taking place June 15-17, 2012 at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Early registration is now open. Until midnight tonight, you can register to participate in PAB2012 for only $130. As we roll over to tomorrow, registration fees go up to $170.

PAB2011 is less than 24 hours away. Which means it’s time to issue a few reminders.

1) A PDF of the PAB2011 program is available for download. We’re really proud of it so even if you don’t think you need it, make us feel great by downloading it and then being sure to tell us how amazing it is.

2) If you’re planning on participating in the content walk at 2pm on Friday… the weather may be a problem. Regardless, let’s meet at 2pm at the NAC 4th Stage and figure out what we’ll do.

3) There’s confusion about the boat cruise. We completely understand because there was a change in plans midstream when the first cruise company we dealt informed us they’d double booked themselves and were cancelling our reservation. Everything you need to know about the boat cruise is in the downloadable program. Don’t forget… partners, spouses and children of registered PAB2011 attendees are invited to join us on the boat cruise.

4) Please be sure to tag any photos, tweets, podcasts, videos and blog posts with #PAB2011.

5) Travel safely. We’re really looking forward to seeing you.

Finally… the #PAB2011 warm-up begins tonight, 7:30pm at @irenespub (885 Bank Street). No cover. We hope to see you there!

Our annual “travel to PAB” podcast to help prepare you for the main event. This edition includes tips from Bruce Murray and Andy Bilodeau, both of whom were at the first two PABs and will be making their triumphant return at PAB2011.

DISCUSSION WITH MARK POIRIER (from April 2009)

Our guest on this week’s show is Friday night kickoff keynote speaker, IMAX Director of Photography Mark Poirier. Mark was going to conduct a workshop for us at PAB2009 and was called away at the last minute for a high profile IMAX video shoot. We found this interview from April 2009 which is still fresh, interesting and relevant today.

At long last, the PAB2011 program is now available for download.

Let us know if we’ve missed anything.

Thank you to Tod Maffin for helping us pull the program together.

UPDATE (June 22, 12:15amET): A corrected version of the program has been uploaded. If you’ve already downloaded the program, you may wish to download a new copy.

We’re introducing something new this year. It’s called a content walk. After all, other conferences have photo walks and PAB is conference about content creation; shouldn’t PAB have a content walk?

We like to think of ours as a bit different, though. Here’s how.

Our content walk is open to all forms of content creation, whether in a style you’re accustomed to, one you’d like to develop with the help of others around you who may have more experience in that medium or with folk who just might have some interesting ideas you can learn from and adapt.

There’s more. Our hope is the people who participate in the PAB2011 content walk will use the content they capture to create/produce a 1-2 minute story during the weekend using ideas and skills they pick up during the conference. We recognize that time might be at a premium during the weekend. On the other hand, some fast workers may have something we can share with the conference by the time we host the final wrap-up.

So, grab your favourite piece of content capturing technology (camera, audio recorder, video camera, sketchpad and pencil), meet us at the NAC 4th Stage at 2pm on Friday, and be ready to capture elements that speak to you during a walking tour of downtown Ottawa. (Note: we’ll understand if the audio enthusiasts want to splinter off to capture sound without chatter or the sound of camera shutters)

Of course, if the weather isn’t cooperative, we may just all end up at a museum or pub. :)

MargaritavilleBroca’s Area alumni Dave Brodbeck and Isabelle Michaud spent a couple of nights at Mark and Andrea’s house this past weekend (they happened to be in the neighbourhood).

So, one evening, while hanging out in “Margaritaville” and Bob was doing something else, they turned on the recorder to talk about PAB2011 and Dave Brodbeck’s JOLT! “Your story deserves no attention whatsoever.”
