This video features excerpts from the PAB2011 keynote speech by IMAX cinematographer and director of photography Mark Poirier. Mark kicked off PAB2011 with an insightful talk about technology being in service to story, how to think visually and using the psychology of light to tell stories.

PAB is an annual three-day conference about digital content creation, audience engagement and online relationship building. Video playlists are available for each of PAB2010 and PAB2011.

Here are some of the many links to PAB2011 content created by members of the PAB community. Let us know if we’re missing anything.

The final countdown

PAB2011 is less than 24 hours away. Which means it’s time to issue a few reminders.

1) A PDF of the PAB2011 program is available for download. We’re really proud of it so even if you don’t think you need it, make us feel great by downloading it and then being sure to tell us how amazing it is.

2) If you’re planning on participating in the content walk at 2pm on Friday… the weather may be a problem. Regardless, let’s meet at 2pm at the NAC 4th Stage and figure out what we’ll do.

3) There’s confusion about the boat cruise. We completely understand because there was a change in plans midstream when the first cruise company we dealt informed us they’d double booked themselves and were cancelling our reservation. Everything you need to know about the boat cruise is in the downloadable program. Don’t forget… partners, spouses and children of registered PAB2011 attendees are invited to join us on the boat cruise.

4) Please be sure to tag any photos, tweets, podcasts, videos and blog posts with #PAB2011.

5) Travel safely. We’re really looking forward to seeing you.

Finally… the #PAB2011 warm-up begins tonight, 7:30pm at @irenespub (885 Bank Street). No cover. We hope to see you there!

Our annual “travel to PAB” podcast to help prepare you for the main event. This edition includes tips from Bruce Murray and Andy Bilodeau, both of whom were at the first two PABs and will be making their triumphant return at PAB2011.

DISCUSSION WITH MARK POIRIER (from April 2009)

Our guest on this week’s show is Friday night kickoff keynote speaker, IMAX Director of Photography Mark Poirier.
