PAB2007 book drive for Kingston School

PAB2007 is organizing a children’s book collection for Central Public School in Kingston, ON. We ask that all PAB2007 registrants participate in this book drive. It’s simple. Here’s how.

  • Buy a brand new copy of one of your favourite children’s books
  • Write the name of your city, province/state and country on the inside cover (optionally, you can write your name as well)
  • Bring that book to PAB2007
  • Drop the book off in the book collection bin at the conference
  • Feel great that you are helping a school turn children on to reading

If you have questions about the book drive, email Andrea.

PAB Forum is now online!

PAB now has it’s own board over on the newly-revamped ROGIC forums.

This will be the spot to arrange ride-shares, room-mates, discuss whatever. A spot to meet people online before you see them at PAB.

Here’s the link : PAB board on the ROGIC forum..

Tell your friends!

Funny thing is, I was in the middle of setting this up, albeit slowly, when I got an email from Melinda (My Marilyn) suggesting this.

So thanks for the nudge to finish it off Melinda, Here it is!

(by the way, there’s 1 day left on early registration)

PAB Countdown widget!

Barry from Barry from Barrie (who happens to be from Barrie) has created a PAB2007 countdown widget. I just installed it on my Mac, and it’s very nice!

Here’s what it looks like:

Nice, eh? You can download it here:

(This is supplied as-is. We assume no responsibility for this widget, it may even cause an arm to grow out of your forehead, that’s really not our problem.)

Godspeed, Andy K

Andy K[Posted by Mark Blevis] It was opening night of Podcasters Across Borders - June 23, 2006. Shelagh Rogers had finished her keynote address and the socializing had begun. A very excited man in a Hawaian shirt introduced himself to me. It was Andy K, co-host of the morning show on Oldies 960 in Kingston, ON. I had no idea who he was. Bob Goyetche did. Bob remembered when Andy was a radio celebrity in Montreal during the 70’s. Apparently, Andy also enjoyed success in the Toronto market and a second run in Montreal in the 90’s.

Andy was very excited about Podcasting and wanted to learn more. We cut him a deal - we’d forgive the registration fee and he’d talk us up on his morning show. Andy worked the room that night and was one of the first people to arrive the next morning. He was able to relate Podcasting to his experience in radio and seemed genuinely interested in getting into the medium.

After Bob and I wrapped up recording our first anniversary episode of the Canadian Podcast Buffet this evening, Bob sent me a link to a memorial page on the Oldies 960 website.

Godspeed, Andy K. Thank you for being a part of our conference.
