PAB2010 will kick off Friday evening, June 18, with a keynote presentation by Barry McLoughlin. Mr. McLoughlin has carved a niche for himself and his firm McLoughlin Media in high-level media and presentation skills training

“I spend a lot of time helping communicators say the right thing in the right way at the right time,” said McLoughlin. “I’m really looking forward to being a part of this conference and talking about how communicators can remain relevant in the world of democratized media.”

During his keynote, Mr. McLoughlin will explore the elements of style and how they impact media credibility and relevance.

The Lord Elgin is filling up for the weekend of PAB. While we have 50 rooms available to us at the amazing PAB2010 group rate that weekend, rooms with two queen-sized beds are apparently popular and are coming up in short supply.

If you want a room with two queen-sized beds, you’d better book your room soon!

Because of our late start in planning PAB2010, we’re juggling more organization activities at one time than typical for mid-April. To show we’re still working hard on everything, we’re making announcements as often as we can.

One activity we’re still working through is reviewing speaking proposals and selecting speakers. We’re making announcements as quickly as decisions are made. Today, we have two more session announcements.

Writer and blogger Mare Swallow (aka Etiquette Bitch) will be delivering the session Make the Irrelevant Relevant: Apply Three Adult Learning Principles to Your Media.

Algoma University Prof. Dave Brodbeck will moderate the discussion What if my boss finds out? with CNET-TV executive editor Tom Merritt of TWiT (see the comments), librarian and podcaster Ken Hernden, and teacher and podcaster Scarborough Dude.

The early registration code pab2010 saves $20 on registration and expires at 5pmET today, April 16. Register now before it’s too late.

The Lord Elgin Hotel (which is across the street from the NAC) has offered an astounding deal to PAB2010 registrants. They’ve allocated a block of 50 rooms at the unbelievable rate of CDN$112/night (plus applicable taxes and any guest-incurred charges)!!!

PAB2010 registrants have the choice of a room with two queen beds or one king. All rooms include complimentary coffee/tea service. High speed Internet access is available for a fee. The group rate is available if you book your room before end of day May 19, or until all 50 rooms in the block are booked (whichever comes first) and can only be applied to bookings for the nights of June 18, 19 and 20, 2010.

Note that if you book a room at the preferred rate and cancel within seven days of the conference, you will be charged for one night’s stay in the hotel (CDN$112 plus applicable taxes).

Valet parking is available for $23/day. There are other pay parking lots nearby if you prefer.

To book your room, call the Lord Elgin Hotel at 1-800-267-4298 or direct 613-235-3333 and reference PAB2010.

Once again this year, the submissions for sessions have been just incredible – THANK YOU!

We’ll tease you by revealing three speakers today, and we have more announcements coming very soon. We’ll also be turning the spotlight on our speakers in the coming weeks.

PAB alumn Adam Gratrix is the winner of the longest session title award. He will be delivering a session called Cult of Listener: Podcaster as shaman in the post-literate Global Theatre; or, How to Recruit Disciples and Brainwash your Audience for Fun and Profit.

Susan Murphy will be participating in her first PAB and inspiring us with Making Meaning: How to Create Content that Speaks to People.

Community leader, PodCamp den mother and longtime PABster Whitney Hoffman will be presenting Disruption of Social Contracts.

Remember, the early registration discount code (PAB2010) expires at 5pmET on Friday April 16.
