Once again, The Lord Elgin Hotel will be the “official hotel” for a PAB event. It’s pretty much across the street from the National Arts Centre, where the event is being held. The hotel has allocated a block of  rooms at the unbelievable rate of CDN$115/night (plus applicable taxes and any guest-incurred charges) for registrants of PAB2011, taking place June 24-26, 2011 at the 4th Stage of the NAC.Lord Elgin Hotel

Note that if you book a room at the preferred rate and cancel within seven days of the conference, you will be charged for one night’s stay in the hotel (CDN$115 plus applicable taxes).

Woo!!

The new site is live, registrations are opened, and Mark and Bob are feverishly working at putting the sessions list together.

It took a bit longer than expected, something about some (way too frequent) political event happening in Canada, and the fact that one of the organizers is a digital public affairs analyst/strategist. The good news though is that PAB has earned the confidence of attendees and speakers for 6 years now, and PAB2011 will continue in the grand tradition of PAB.

We expect to announce the sessions list over the next week or so.

We still have some sponsorship opportunities available, if you’d like to participate and show your support for PAB2011, please contact Bob & Mark at podcastersacrossborders@gmail.com .

The updates will now start appearing here rather regularly, so drop in often, subscribe to the RSS if you do that sort of thing, or even sign up to get updates by email. If you want to hear the thoughts/discussions and announcements about PAB, you can also listen to Canadian Podcast Buffet, which just happens to be the official podcast of PAB.

We are accepting session and JOLT! proposals for PAB2011 until March 15, 2011.This year’s theme is…

Your story deserves to be told. Well.

Listen to the episode 175 of The Canadian Podcast Buffet for a discussion on the theme and how your speaking session or JOLT! can help make PAB2011 (the 6th edition of the conference) the best one, yet!

Submissions that will be given the most weight are those that present unique skills, challenge new media producers to think beyond current norms and share ideas on the story experience for creators and their audiences. Presentations can focus on both soft and technical skills for text, audio and video productions and CANNOT be used to sell a product or service, or launch a business venture. They are meant to get people thinking, talking and connecting.

Speaking sessions have a 20 minute time limit with additional time allocated for Q&A. JOLTS! are timed five-minute “lightning talks” mean to put new ideas into the community for innovation in content, storytelling and the story experience, production, tools and activities (real and virtual). This is a chance for someone to inspire the community or make a pitch to collaborate to improve upon an existing idea or tool, or launch a new one.

Presenters are given free registration to PAB2011, though they are responsible for their own travel and accommodations.

If you are interested in being part of the speaking program at this year’s conference, please send a text proposal of 150 words, or an audio or video proposal of two-minutes or less to canadianpodcastbuffet@gmail.com.
