Rogers Communications has a strong connection with Ottawa, not just as a television, Internet, mobile and wireless company, but also as a media company. Rogers has long been an important part of the community with its local cable access station. In fact, you might not know that Ottawa’s Tom Green got his start on Rogers Cable 22.

Earlier this year they launched RedBoard, the official blog of Rogers Communications, where RogersMiranda, RogersRob, RogersKeith and RogersRichard discuss news, ideas and industry trends and issues. They also created a very cool Canadian-centric video called Next is Now (see below).

Today, Rogers achieved yet another important milestone when it became a silver sponsor of PAB2010.

Welcome to the PAB community, Rogers. We’re thrilled you’re part of this year’s event.

While PAB has always been a registration-funded content-driven event first, we look to sponsors to help make each conference a memorable, connecting event. Through sponsorships we have been able to offer great venues, catered lunches and receptions, boat cruises, swag and more.

For PAB2010, Translucid Communications has been helping us with PR and media relations. Headed by community-guy Bob Ledrew, Translucid has been spreading the word about our move to Ottawa and has raised awareness of the event in the community and media.

Thanks to Bob and Translucid Communications for supporting PAB2010. We’re thrilled to have you on board!

One thing about PAB2010 is certain, the atmosphere of the event will be driven by our amazing new venue, The Fourth Stage of Ottawa’s National Arts Centre.

The NAC is a world class performance arts, multimedia and cultural facility. Besides being home to the NAC Orchestra, the NAC produces an array of amazing festivals, dance programs and digital media, much of which is available for free through their podcasts, flickr and YouTube channels, and their online music box.

We feel privileged to have a close relationship with the NAC New Media team, headed up by Maurizio Ortolani. Since we first met Maurizio in 2005, he has become one of the greatest supporters of the podcast and new media community in Canada, donating decommissioned equipment as giveaways on the Canadian Podcast Buffet and making the NAC available for meetups, PodCamp Ottawa and now PAB.

National Arts Centre New Media is a Gold Sponsor and PAB2010 event partner.

We are pleased to announce that Molson Rickard’s White is a silver sponsor of PAB09.  The sponsorship includes some free Rickard’s White for the Saturday evening boat cruise as well as cash for the conference.

This marks the first time PAB has had a taste associated with it.  Which means that you can enjoy PAB all year round and show your appreciation to Molson at the same time.

FreshBooksWe are pleased to announce that FreshBooks has joined the Podcasters Across Borders community as a Silver Sponsor for the 2008 conference.

Besides offering a valuable, easy-to-use and affordable service, FreshBooks is a great supporter of the social media community, social media entrepreneurs and events including Mesh (Mike McDerment co-founded both FreshBooks and Mesh) and now PAB.

Saul Colt, Head of Magic, will be attending PAB. Be sure to introduce yourself, get to know him and thank him for their support.
